About Bachata Partnering
Bachata Partnering is our open-level bachata class focused entirely on the part most beginners skip: actually dancing with another human. Originating in the Dominican Republic, modern bachata is the most popular Latin partner dance on earth right now — it's romantic, smooth and absurdly fun. In our class you'll learn the basic step, frame and lead-follow connection that makes bachata feel as good as it looks.
What you'll learn
We drill the side-to-side basic with hip motion, the closed and open positions, and the foundational turn patterns — inside turn, outside turn, hammerlock and the classic dip. From there we layer body waves, footwork variations and combinations you can use immediately at any bachata social. Christina, our partnering instructor, also covers tone — when to be smooth, when to be playful, and how to make every dance feel connected.
Why this class works
Bachata is the easiest 'sexy' dance to start because the basic step is so simple. Our class strips out the showy stuff that doesn't work on a crowded floor and focuses on the patterns that make you feel confident leading or following any partner. Class caps keep the instructor close, partner rotation keeps you learning fast, and the studio atmosphere keeps the room judgment-free.
Partnering pairs well with a technique class on another night — compare all four bachata classes we teach to build a schedule that fits you.

Frequently asked
Do I need a partner?
Ironically for a partnering class: no. Rotation IS the curriculum — you'll practice connection with every dancer in the room.
Is this sensual bachata?
We teach traditional and modern bachata with optional sensual styling — pick the vibe you want.
I've never danced before — is that OK?
Absolutely. Bachata is one of the easiest dances to learn from scratch.
