First Time Dancing in Las Vegas? Start Here.

You don't need a partner. You don't need experience. You don't need to know the music. Just walk in — we'll handle the rest. My Roots Dance Studio is the friendliest place to take your very first salsa, bachata, hip hop, or ballet class in Las Vegas.

What Your First Class Looks Like

Arrive 10 minutes early

Walk in, sign a quick waiver, meet your instructor, and grab a spot on the dance floor. No pressure, no audition — just a welcoming room of new and returning dancers ready to learn together.

Learn the basics together

Every group class begins with the fundamentals — counting, footwork, posture, and lead/follow connection. You'll rotate partners so you're never stuck and you build confidence faster.

Leave smiling

By the end of your first hour you'll already be moving to the music with real technique. Most first-timers stay for the social practice afterward — a relaxed jam where you put it all together.

What to Wear & Bring

Clothing

  • Comfortable clothes you can move in — leggings, athletic wear, or a casual top and pants.
  • Layers are smart. The studio warms up fast once class starts.
  • Skip jeans if you can — they restrict turns and partner work.

Shoes

  • Smooth-soled sneakers, dance shoes, or socks all work for your first class.
  • Avoid sticky rubber soles — they catch on our sprung floor and make turns hard.
  • Heels are 100% optional. Most regulars dance in flat dance sneakers.
